ABSTRACT. Common carp production in Poland has been evaluated since 1993 by the Inland Fisheries Institute. Data obtained from surveys were extrapolated to the entire pond surface area in Poland. Studies conducted in 2009 permit forecasting the production of market-sized carp at about 16000 to 19500 tons. If the higher forecast estimate is confirmed, this would signal the reversal of the decreasing trends in carp production noted since the beginning of the decade. Although the production of two-year stocking material is low this year, the production of one-year stocking material should be higher than it was in 2008.
