ABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to describe the economic and financial statuses of fish farms in Poland at trout, carp, and lake fisheries enterprises in 2010. The profitability of each type of fishery production ranged from 5.41% in pond-lake fisheries enterprises, to 9.99% in lake fisheries enterprises; 11.13% in carp farming enterprises, and12.10% in rainbow trout farms. Other indicators calculated also showed that rainbow trout production was highly effective in 2010. Contributing factors to this included the mean income per employee (158,000 pln) and the profit index per employee (17,060 pln). Income generated from sources other than fisheries was noted especially in the subset described as lake enterprises. In these income from sources other than fish production comprised 55.1%, of which 25.3% was generated by the sale of angling permits, and 29.8% by “other”, which included fish processing, fish sales, food and hotel services, and the harvest and sale of cane.
