ABSTRACT. Outside Poland, some of the most common angling destinations, especially those focused on pike catches, lie in Swedish waters. The main factor underlying the attractiveness of Swedish catching areas is the relatively low cost of such excursions. The study was conducted in 2012-2016 on the Roslagen archipelago located in central-eastern Sweden. Catches were done in accordance with the principle of Catch and Release (C&R), and the study spanned four trips in the months of May-June and two trips in September. Tests were carried out using both classical and casting (using jerk) spin fishing techniques with different kinds of lures. The study showed that Roslagen archipelago is a very attractive catching area that provides an opportunity to catch large quantities of fish, especially pike. Nevertheless, even in such fishing grounds, catching especially desirable fish (measuring over one meter in length) is not such a simple task. The most effective type of bait, both in terms of the quantity of fish caught and their size, were the soft, so-called rubber, lures.
