ABSTRACT. The aim of the study has been to examine the effect of a diet enriched with the Lactofish synbiotic formulation on the immune parameters in roach (Rutilus rutilus) and tench (Tinca tinca). The stimulating effect of the tested formulation was evaluated after two weeks of feeding (uptake I) and next two weeks after commercial feed exclusively was used (uptake II).
Supplementation of feed with the Lactofish formulation improved selected parameters of humoral innate immunity, which take place important role in bacterial infection fighting. Increased activity of lisozyme and total Ig level were observed, and the effect persisted for two weeks after the commercial feed regime was resumed.
The Lactofish supplemetation of feed also improved the ability of the head kidney phagocytes (RBA) to carry out oxygen burst. A similar effect has been observed for the killing activity of phagocytes (PKA) from the head kidney after the stimulation of A. hydrophila, and the effect persisted for two weeks after the commercial feed regime was resumed.
The results show that feeding fish with the Lactofish fomulation supplemented fed may help to control serious bacterial diseases.
